Scenario:

So, does Madison finally have a reliable car now? In the previous clip titled "It’s such an important meeting," the old Opel Kadett from 1968 had let her down. But her colleague Anna was able to pick her up in time for the appointment. Here, Madison has been given Anna’s old Volvo. 

At the start of this clip, there are again several unsuccessful attempts to start the car. Madison even pulls out the choke to get more fuel to the carburetor. The engine sounds like it could start any moment. It keeps jerking while she tries to start it. 

And yes! After nearly four minutes, the engine finally roars to life. Madison gives the engine a quick rev to apparently blow out the carburetor. 

At first, Madison drives the Volvo backward off the property. You can see her handling the gear shift and then her face, turned backwards toward the rear window.

For about five minutes, you see Madison driving through the streets and occasionally having to stop. During the drive, you can hear that the engine still sounds a bit rough, but it doesn’t stall when braking. Only when Madison comes back home and drives up the driveway does the engine stall—just before the spot where she wants to park the old Volvo. She tries to restart the engine. Before her first attempt, though, she lights a cigarette and keeps pressing the gas pedal continuously. For two minutes, Madison tries to get the engine to start again, and she manages it! 

She gives the engine a few half-hearted revs before driving up the rest of the driveway. She seems relieved to have made it home after all. 

She gets out and slams the door.
