Scenario:
When a real lady, the kind you'd want as a mother, starts an old, stubborn car, you want to be as close to her as possible. Maria is just such a mother. She's completely unfazed by the futile attempts to start the engine. Not only before the first attempt does she pump the accelerator for a while, but also to give the old van any chance of starting. The starter sounds soft as her right high heel moves briskly up and down on the accelerator pedal. Not that the engine is about to stall, but you can already hear it gently twitching, as if it's about to start. And yes, it does. Though only briefly, before it stalls again. Patiently, Maria tries again and again. From the passenger side, looking through the windshield and at the accelerator pedal, this scenario plays out for a total of 13 minutes before the engine finally starts with difficulty. For the remaining 5 minutes or so, Maria performs a warm-up revving.
